San Diego County Water Authority states major concerns with Gregory Canyon Landfill

“The San Diego County Water Authority’s Engineering and Operations Committee heard an update on the status of the proposed Gregory Canyon Landfill during the committee’s July 23 meeting.

On July 8 the SDCWA sent a letter to Regional Water Quality Control Board water resource control engineer Carol Tamaki noting the CWA’s concerns about the landfill.

While the RCWQB’s tentative order for a proposed waste discharge permit for the landfill includes measures to protect water quality, the CWA remains concerned with potential impacts both to CWA facilities and to regional water resources. “We don’t have the detail to tell us how concerned we should be,” said CWA deputy general manager Frank Belock. …”
