Wolk withdraws authorship of Delta consevancy bill

“State Sen. Lois Wolk, D-Davis, withdrew authorship Wednesday of one of five key bills dealing with the Delta and California’s water future.

Wolk did so, she said, after learning that a key conference committee intended to alter provisions of her bill and other parts of the water package. Wolk’s bill would establish a Delta conservancy.

“What began as a sincere effort to create a state and local partnership to restore the Delta and sustain the Delta communities and economy is becoming, day by day, amendment by amendment, a tool to assist water exporters who are primarily responsible for the Delta’s decline,” Wolk said in a statement. …”
