Temecula-area water proposals on tap

“Temecula-area customers and others can weigh in this week on water rates and whether future homes and businesses should be guaranteed water service.
At 6 p.m. Monday, the Rancho California Water District board will hear public comments on a member’s proposal to stop installing new meters and issuing water availability letters to developers. A vote on John Hoagland’s proposal could follow.
At its regular meeting at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the board will hold another public hearing on a plan to revamp the Temecula-based district’s rates to penalize customers who waste water.
Both hearings are at district headquarters, 42135 Winchester Road, Temecula. The district serves more than 120,000 people in Temecula, part of Murrieta and surrounding unincorporated areas.
Hoagland’s proposed moratorium and the new rate structure are responses to California’s long-running water woes stemming from drought and the inability to import water from northern California. …”
