Water bottling plant up for approval Wednesday

“The proposed Crystal Geyser sparkling mineral water bottling plant in Orland is up for approval or denial Wednesday at a 10 a.m. meeting of the city’s Technical Advisory Committee at the Carnegie Center, 912 Third St.

If the project is approved Wednesday, a citizens group that has been actively opposing the project is likely to appeal the decision to the Orland City Council in December.

The proposal is to build a 112,500-square-foot bottling plant and warehouse, with three 25,000-gallon water storage tanks on 10.35 acres of land at 1507 E. South St., at County Road 200.

The company produces sparkling mineral water in several flavors, in light blue bottles. This is a separate product than Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water, which is not carbonated. The plant would use preforms, which are plastic molds that are heated and blown to their full size. … “
