Riverside’s plan to capture Santa Ana River water questioned in Colton

“Several residents and conservationists say Riverside and Colton water officials need to consider options and honor a past promise to protect Santa Ana River habitat before moving ahead with plans to store captured river water on land the two cities own in Colton.
“I think they are jumping the gun here,” said Steve Cade, a construction contractor who attended a meeting Tuesday.
Riverside water officials hosted the meeting to seek input about issues that should be examined in an upcoming environmental study.
“They need to step back,” said Cade, a Colton resident. … “
