‘60 Minutes’ to air story on water issues

“Readers interested in the water problems plaguing California and Kings County can get another perspective this Sunday on the CBS show “60 Minutes.”

A segment entitled “Running Dry” will address water issues ranging from prolonged drought, the push for new storage, environmental impacts and the harmful affect on the San Joaquin Valley’s predominantly agricultural economy.

From July 1 to Aug. 7 alone, the agricultural commissioner’s office estimated that water shortages cost Kings County’s economy $58.5 million in lost crop income. … “
