McClintockFrom the Office of Congressman Tom McClintock:

“Washington, D.C. – Members of the House of Representatives will hold a congressional forum to examine resolving the San Joaquin Valley water crisis. The forum will be held on Monday, January 25 in Fresno, California at the City Council Chambers.

The public will have a direct opportunity to comment on resolving the water supply crisis and witnesses from the Obama Administration, the farming community and the environmental movement will testify. Members of the California congressional delegation and the House Natural Resources Committee have been invited to attend this important forum.

“There is no time to waste on reversing the plight of the San Joaquin Valley,” said Water and Power Subcommittee Ranking Republican Tom McClintock (CA-04), who will be chairing the forum. “Time and again, we have asked the Majority to hear the concerns of residents and to act immediately to turn the water pumps back on. While tens of thousands people are unemployed, communities literally dry up and the water pumps stand idle. Congress has not taken action, and a message needs to be sent that it needs to remove the regulatory barriers keeping people from work. We are holding the forum for that very purpose. The water crisis impacts everyone and we welcome the input of Democrats, Republicans and Independents.”

The forum will begin at 8:30 AM on January 25, 2010 and will be held in the Fresno City Council Chambers, located at 2600 Fresno Street in Fresno.”
