Orland water users explore taking ownership of Stony Gorge Reservoir

“After more than a century, an Orland irrigation group may take ownership of a federal irrigation project.
The Bureau of Reclamation has suggested that the Orland Unit Water Users’ Association take over the title of the Orland Project — a water-delivery system that includes East Park and Stony Gorge reservoirs, two diversion dams and more than 150 miles of canals and laterals. The association has operated and maintained the system since 1954.
Black Butte Lake is not part of the project.
The association is still determining whether to move forward and is speaking with other local groups, including the Glenn County Board of Supervisors, association manager Rick Massa said. … “
