All-American Canal test buoys placed

From the Imperial Valley Press:

“Construction workers strung the first official buoy line across the All-American Canal at Drop 2 on Wednesday to prepare for March 18 in-water tests. The U.S. Border Patrol Search, Trauma and Rescue team will perform the tests to ensure the buoys’ effectiveness.

“What we’re going to be doing is attaching some equipment to that buoy line and trying the (line) at different angles,” Todd Shields, Imperial Irrigation District executive program manager for the All-American Canal lining project, said.

The buoy line will be put at a downstream angle so that the currents push anyone in the canal toward the bank. The test line at Drop 2, near Gordons Well, led to a ladder on the southern bank of the canal. … “
