Aqua Blog Maven traveling to the Delta this weekend

Posted by: Aqua Blog Maven on April 4, 2008 at 9:14 am

Well, I’m off headed to Sacramento and the Delta. Internet access should be available so you’ll hardly know I’m gone! Today we’ll be driving up through the San Joaquin Valley looking at more interesting water infrastructure, and tomorrow, the Delta. I’ll be uploading pictures onto the flickr website; you’ll know I have done so when the flickr scroll changes.

Meanwhile, enjoy these wierd looking creatures found in a recent Antarctic expedition from National Geographic: Weird Sea Creatures of the Antarctic.

Enjoy your weekend!

In the interest of full disclosure, are your taking your trip with the MWDSC (MET) tour group who departed from MWDOC HQ this morning bound for the same destinations?

No, not at all! How funny that they are taking a trip at the same time.

No, it’s just me, and I can prove it, because I have only pictures of the Tehachapi pumps from far away because the lady at the gate to the plant shooed me away and wouldn’t let me take any pictures. So, I drove off down the road a bit, served lunch to the Aqua kids and took some pictures, of course.

Finding those pumps took some work! They don’t give you any address or location, so I was not going to be dissuaded so easily. But I did wonder if the guys in the white DWR vans were going to stop and confiscate my memory card…

I’m going to try and get the pictures uploaded to flickr this morning. Saw some interesting water bank stuff in the Central Valley, lots of great ag shots. Had to get back to the main road before I had really wanted. Sometimes the family gets tired of constant stopping to look at water stuff, and my oldest son sees business opportunities in charging me every time I pull over!

At least you get to have family for company on your independent tour. With the MWD tour most of the companions are water buffalos and lilies.
