King salmon again await anglers’ lines

From the Vallejo Times-Herald:

“For the first time in three years, fishermen today can chase Chinook king salmon in the Bay-Delta estuary, from the Carquinez Strait in the west to the Sacramento River at Knights Landing in the north.

To mark the occasion, a crowd of anglers is expected to gather at noon at the First Street pier.

“People have been waiting three years for this,” said Curtis Hayes of Benicia Bait & Tackle, which will operate a trailer selling supplies to fishermen. “It’s a big event.” … “
