From the website of Congressman Jerry McNerney:
“Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-11) today continued his effort to address the growing demand for water by reintroducing H.R. 395, the Healthy Communities Water Supply Act. H.R. 395 will provide $125 million in grant funding for projects that increase the usable water supply by encouraging innovation in water conservation, recycling, reuse, and reclamation.
“Given the fragile state of California's water supply, it's crucial that we invest in ways to increase our water availability,\” said Rep. McNerney. “This legislation provides grants to improve water sources through innovative means like recycling and reclamation projects.
“I've visited water recycling and other innovative projects in our community and I've seen firsthand the potential these initiatives have to create jobs and increase the stability of our area's water supply,\” continued Rep. McNerney. “Projects like these are a good investment for our area and our state.
The Healthy Communities Water Supply Act of 2011 amends the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to authorize funding for alternative water source projects. Rep. McNerney introduced similar legislation, which was passed by the House, in previous sessions of Congress.
H.R. 395 is expected to be referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.”
