Diamond Valley Lake boat ramp extension faces delay because of economy; fishermen look to other inland lakes for alternatives, plus I add one of my own

From Riverside’s Press-Enterprise:

A proposal to extend the boat ramp at Diamond Valley Lake would allow private boat access to one of Southern California’s premier fishing lakes, even when the water level is low. But the financial crisis gripping the economy in general could put a freeze on those plans.

Officials of Metropolitan Water District, owner of the 4,500-acre lake, recommend completion of designs for a ramp extension, which could cost up to $1.7 million to build. But they are reluctant to seek bids in order “to preserve available funds during the ongoing worldwide financial crisis.”

MWD’s business and finance committee is poised to hear discussions on the proposal Monday. The full board could take it up Tuesday.
