Northern California: Regional water plans on the table; help from the public sought

“It’s time for the public to get involved in a regional planning effort that has been building over the past decade.

The goal is to work toward water projects and programs for a six-county area. With priorities in place, the long-term plans include targeting funding for high-priority projects.

“These first outreach meetings are the key,” said Leigh McDaniel, Glenn County supervisor and chair of the Northern Sacramento Valley Integrated Water Management Plan.

The group is tasked with coming up with a guideline for the region by 2013, but McDaniel stressed it’s important for the public to become involved now. … “
