Kern County students to raise trout

From the Kern Valley Sun:

“Over the next few months, fourth grade students at Wallace Elementary School, along with Wallace Middle School students, will be raising rainbow trout in their classrooms. Once the trout have reached the adequate size, the students will release their fish into the waters of the Kern River.

Last Wednesday, students received the much anticipated special delivery of the trout eggs, from Wayne Rich of Kern Valley Fly Fishers.

The trout eggs, fertilized at the San Joaquin Hatchery in Friant, Calif. on Dec. 22, were delivered at 41-days-old, in the eyed stage. … “
