Nevada snow survey shows Sierra snow levels below normal but enough

Posted by: Maven on April 2, 2009 at 1:19 pm

From the Reno Gazette Journal:

The final snowpack survey of the winter on Wednesday found the Sierra below normal, but not low enough to spark major concerns about water use and river flows.

The Truckee River Basin was 83 percent of normal, compared with 85 percent last April 1, according to measurements taken on Mount Rose by Dan Greenlee, a hydrologist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

“The first big storm in the beginning of March led us out of the woods,” Greenlee said. “It’s not as good as I’d like it to be, but it’s better than I thought it would be a month ago.”
