Regional briefs: More restrictions and rising rates around the state

Dublin being asked to use less but pay more: Because of another winter of below normal snowpack in the Sierra Nevada, combined with a state mandate to pump less water from the Delta, the Dublin San Ramon Services District is asking residents to voluntarily cut water use by 20 percent. At the same time, however, the DSRSD is considering a 20 percent rate increase, partly to help offset lower sales of the same water you’re being asked to conserve. From the Contra Costa Times: Ebbing water levels, rising water rates
Colton puts off water rate increase, for now: “The City Council has put off final approval of an ordinance doubling water rates over the next three years. The council, which had been scheduled to give the ordinance its second reading Tuesday night, put off the decision at least until June 2 because two of the seven council members, Deirdre Bennett and Richard DeLaRosa, were absent.” From the Riverside Press-Enterprise: Colton delays approval of water rate hike
Irrigation restrictions for Escondido: “Residents and businesses can only water their landscaping three days per week under restrictions approved Wednesday by the City Council. But the rules, which take effect July 1, were revised to exclude a moratorium on yard fountains and to allow the city to continue liberally watering the grass in some heavily-used city parks.” From the North County Times: Shrinking water supply prompts irrigation restrictions
Level 2 Drought alert for Ramona: “Effective July 1, Ramona Municipal Water District will be in a Level 2 Drought Alert, up a notch from the Level 1 Drought Watch called for in late January. RMWD directors last Tuesday approved the move to Level 2, which imposes some mandatory water use restrictions, including designated watering days, times and duration.” From the Ramona Sentinel: Ramona Municipal Water District calls for Level 2 Drought Alert
