Imperial Irrigation District’s non-ag water policy addressed

From the Imperial Valley Press:

A letter addressing an interim water policy for non-agricultural projects drew attention Tuesday from Imperial County supervisors who urged the Imperial Irrigation District to continue working more on it.

The supervisors’ 5-0 vote gave the go-ahead to send the letter to the IID as supervisors discussed a suggested pricing rate of as much as $500 per acre foot to non-agricultural customers.

The issue was discussed during the IID’s meeting two weeks ago, said Andy Horne, the county’s deputy Chief Executive Officer for natural resource development.

The county’s letter urges the district to hold off in adopting any pricing schedule until IID officials meet with “members of the development community,” Horne said. Horne appeared before the board during its meeting.
