Simi fixes water rule that would’ve exempted city

Posted by: Maven on June 2, 2009 at 6:23 am

From the Ventura County Star:

The Simi Valley City Council fixed a water conservation ordinance Monday night to make sure it held the city accountable to the same rules as its residents. What was meant to be an adoption of a new city rule was reintroduced for a first reading with several key words deleted. Now public agencies — the city, schools and parks — are not allowed to irrigate or water during the day, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The issue was brought to the City Council’s attention through a report in The Star, which outlined the exception the city was about to vote into law.

In a previous council meeting, all five council members thought they were adopting a model ordinance, as set by the Metropolitan Water District.
